Who We Are
|
Alistar International is a non-profit 501 (c) 3, non-governmental organization based out of Los Angeles, California. With over 30 years working in the field, AI is involved in direct projects focusing on community assistance, environmental protection, and supporting grassroots self-determination.
Alistar International was founded in 1993 by the Greer family with the intentions of carrying out the philanthropic interests of the family. At this time, the Greer family had been involved in various charitable organizations, including Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos, and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, among others. Initiating Alistar International meant expanding charitable activities into the field, which began in 1994 in Nicaragua, Central America. Working over 30 years in Nicaragua, and in other countries in the U.S., Latin America, and Africa, the organization has been involved in community assistance projects and has participated in supporting environmental conservation along side local & indigenous communities. Over the past two decades, we expanded our work to include projects of community-based conservation in the Pacific Islands, including the support of Native Hawaiian conservation in areas of high biological diversity, such as currently endangered wetlands and forest areas. In recent years, we have continued our efforts in Latin America and the Pacific Islands while expanding to other geographical regions, such as the Middle East and Africa. |
